matisse: the cut outs

An interactive performance for the Cut Outs exhibition in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern, London, in collaboration with members of the Mercury Quartet.

Inspired by Matisse's famous cutting technique, I programmed Nintendo Wii remotes to sample and manipulate the live instruments, tracing the life size shapes arranged by the children in the hall to create rich and vibrant musical textures from strings and saxophones.
